COVID-19 and Influenza

COVID-19

COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) is a disease caused by a virus named SARS-CoV-2. It can be very contagious and spreads quickly through droplets. This means that an infected person breathes out droplets and other people can breathe in them in. It is also possible for these droplets and particles to land on their eyes, nose, or mouth. In some circumstances, these droplets may contaminate surfaces they touch. COVID-19 most often causes respiratory symptoms that can feel much like a cold, the flu, or pneumonia.

The Moniteau County Health Center recommends all eligible people get vaccinated for COVID-19.  Consult with your health care provider with concerns about the vaccine. The vaccine is available at our office.

Influenza

Influenza (flu) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and lungs. Influenza viruses are spread through tiny droplets when infected people cough, sneeze, or talk. These droplets can find their way into the eyes, nose, or mouth of bystanders. Less commonly, these droplets can be spread through contaminated surfaces.

The Moniteau County Health Center recommends all eligible people get vaccinated for Influenza.  Consult with your health care provider with concerns about the vaccine. The vaccine is available at our office.
