Communicable Disease Program
Identifying, preventing and controlling the spread of infectious diseases is the goal of this program. Certain communicable diseases are mandated by law to be reported to the health department in a timely matter.
When the health center is notified of a reportable illness, an investigation is initiated to determine the need for appropriate follow-up and treatment. Education to the individual can then be done.
Examples of communicable diseases include, but are not limited to:
- Tuberculosis
- Hepatitis A, B, and C
- Rabies
- Listeriosis
- Meningococcal Diseases
- Salmonella
- Tick and mosquito born illness
- Pertussis
- Other vaccine-preventable diseases
